El Segundo's First Annual Environmental Expo 7.03.08

Whoo hoo! I did it! Despite much procrastination (read as fear) I managed to pull myself together and create a lovely booth for the Expo. I made a ton of Kombucha using these great bowls from Target. I don't normally shop at Target but these are made in the USA and only cost $5 for a 4qt bowl.

The bowls have a larger surface area than the pickle jars and therefore are fermented faster. The SCOBY's are thick and luscious. So, I have dropped one of my jars out of rotation and am currently using one of these bowls! The main issue is the difficulty pouring the Kombucha out of them...still trying to figure that out.

I was grateful to have the help of former Kamper Elizabeth Glick to help me set up the canvas tent.

I chatted with lots of people about Kombucha, most of whom had never heard of it before, and shared samples of my delicious brew. It was a lot of fun and great to talk to so many people.

Would a bix mixing bowl with a spout work? I have two, one from Pampered Shef and one made by pyrex. I'm thinking that might be the solution!

So long as they are glass with no plastic or metal components - it'll work. Happy Brewing!
